A Perfect Day in Hyde Park

We hope you’ve been having a nice time enjoying the weather and definitely seeing some friends. London is the vibrant centre of everything that is hip & happening set against the charming backdrop of all the famous streets and squares. Summer isn’t quite complete if you don't get to see and experience the intoxicating views of the city and the most important social spaces around. You may have visited Hyde Park plenty of times or only made an appearance in the winter to check out their Winter Wonderland, but haven’t truly experienced what the Royal Park has on offer all year round. When you're standing in the centre of Hyde Park, it's easy to forget you're in the centre of one of the world's busiest cities. Today you’re going to find out everything Hyde Park has got going on and how to experience the perfect day jam-packed with a selection of lovely activities you can participate in with friends and family. We’ll also be suggesting which of our vegan leather bags would be most fitting for the occasion.

Explore the Rose Garden

Inside the gates of the park, you will find Hyde Park Rose Garden, a lovely place surrounded by yew havens, filled with shrubbery roses. Many people don't even realise that they go down the wide route from the gates to the Serpentine to Queen Elizabeth. Early June is the greatest time to see the roses, although they still blossom through the first frosts. Two times a year, the flower beds will be planted with Spring and Summer shows, but there will always be something to view regardless of the season of the year. A rose pier with pillars and chains encloses the circular centre of the garden.

We assure you that the ideal handbag to pair with this day out would be the crossbody bag in the Green & Mustard Yellow colour from the Green Pepper & Mustard set, a wonderful shade to match the beautiful scenery from the garden. You can use it as a shoulder bag or choose to shorten the strap to turn it into a cute clutch bag, making it one of the perfect leather accessories for a day in the park. Our sustainable vegan accessories allow you to make sure your hands are free enough to stop and smell the roses!

Go for a Swim in Serpentine Lido

This lido is home to Britain's oldest swimming club and is staffed by trained lifeguards. It is available to the public on weekends and holidays in May from 10 am to 6 pm, and every week from June to mid-September. There includes a children's paddling pool, waterside tables, sun loungers, and a cafe in addition to the 100m swimming area. The Serpentine Lido also provides triathlon training and coaching sessions during the day and early evening. Our tote bag is the go-to bag to fit all your swimming essentials, we suggest taking the reversible tote bag from our Chocolate and Pralines set as either side is a lovely neutral tone that can match all your summery outfits and is the perfect shoulder bag to carry without weighing you down, no matter what’s inside! It also helps that all of our handbags are made from vegan leather, making them waterproof, so it’s not the end of the world if it gets wet.

Set Sail on the Serpentine

In the centre of Hyde Park, there is a big body of recreational water where you can sail in leased pedal boats, which the youngsters will enjoy. This 40-acre lake has been a part of London since 1730, and on a hot summer day, taking a dip in its tranquil waters is one of the city's most popular pleasures. On the Serpentine, Hyde Park boasts a fleet of rowing and pedal boats, as well as the UK's first Solarshuttle, a beautiful watercraft that glides across the lake powered solely by the sun. The Solarshuttle can transport up to 40 passengers, while the pedal and rowboats can accommodate up to 6 people apiece.

The bag we think would be perfect for this outing would be the blue & grey crossbody bag from the Deep Blue & Cloud set. Having a crossbody bag is ideal in this situation as it allows you to keep your essential items close to you without feeling restricted or weighed by carrying your handbag on your shoulder.

You can rent a rowing boat and go for a leisurely trip along the lake. The lake is open from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm (4:00 pm in the winter). One hour costs £12 for adults and £5 for children.

See Van Gogh Alive at Kensington Gardens

If you’re an art lover, then this is the perfect event for you. In the midst of London's most stunning Royal Parks this summer, for an exclusive four-month round the most visited immersive multi-sensory experience in the world, follow Van Gogh on a voyage through the Netherlands, Arles, Saint Rémy and Auvers-sur-Oise, where he crafted several of his timeless masterpieces. You don't just gaze at his paintings at Van Gogh Alive, you step inside them and sense their power. This is the perfect event to stop by before or after a meal, and if you decide to go, we recommend pairing your outfit for this exhibition with the clutch bag from the Green Pepper and Mustard set, try not to steal away the show from Van Gogh in the process!

Grab a Bite to Eat at Serpentine Bar & Kitchen

The Serpentine Bar & Kitchen offers a broad range of delectable hot meals and snacks, freshly made sandwiches and salads, a daily selection of bakery pastries, and hot and cold drinks from the bar. This glass-sided café floats on the water's edge, providing an excellent vantage point for seeing swans, geese, and other wildfowl. It offers plenty of indoor and outdoor space, but it's also quite busy at times, so you'll need to locate a table before you order.

For this venue any one of the handbags from our sustainable bag sets would be absolutely perfect, however, we would suggest taking a purse/clutch bag as it is compact and is great to be used for evening occasions to carry minimal essentials like a phone, credit cards, or cosmetic items. We would opt for the red clutch bag from our Blackberry and Currant Set.

That’s all for our suggestions on how to have a perfect day in Hyde Park, be sure to check out some of the amazing things they have on offer to make this summer more enjoyable for you!
